Concert Music

In Silence - Sand Mandala for Trombone Solo, Percussion, & Hammond Organ Synthesizer (2011)

The Way Out - Train Serenatina No. 1, for snare drum solo with bass clarinet, piano, violin, viola, and cello (2010) - performed & recorded by Counterinduction.

Fires - nocturne concerto for two percussion soloists, large wind band, and various other monsters (2008) I wrote this for the Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble, for about 60 players, with both a bass drum and snare drum soloist. The live recording was released on a CD called Deviation. I dream of someday completing a cycle of large wind band works.

Courtesy of Blue (2007) - opera and doctoral dissertation, story by Chris Honett & Jason Lind, libretto by Chris Honett.

The Performers Need Not Be Masked (2005)

[I. Still Music, for piano alone

II. Exit Music, concertina for amplified cello and eight others This was recorded live by the White Rabbit Ensemble. The first part is for solo piano. The second part is a short concerto for amplified cello with a small ensemble. At the close of this section, we had speakers out in the halls outside the auditorium playing the last few notes from the opening once again, which is why it's so faint in the recording.

Wire and Moth (2003) for live cello and percussion, with precomposed tracks also triggered during the performance and some live effects for the cello (2003) recorded by Odd Appetite.

Venice Beach Nocturne (2004) for the Ensemble Intercontemporain for the Acanthes Festival. I don’t love this piece, but it was an incredible opportunity and I learned a lot.

Broadcast (2005) for amplified string quartet - performed by the Arditti Quartet. A similar experience.

Three Deaths in a Cambridge Museum (2000) - Bang on a Can Allstars.

A Gentle Little Suite for Broken Dancers, for one piano, seven hands (2001) - performed at Harvard.

Piano Excerpts No. 1 (2000) - piano
